During the 33rd match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Kolkata, Shubman Gill and Dinesh Karthik hit 21 runs off a KM Asif over to shift the momentum of the match towards their side.
After Dinesh Karthik put the visitors in to bat, Chennai Super Kings scored 177-5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings was powered by starts from four of their batsmen. Had even one of them went on to play substantial innings, they would have registered a match-winning total.
In the second innings, Kolkata Knight Riders lost wickets at regular intervals. Post Sunil Narine’s cameo, Shubman Gill came into the groove as he scored his maiden IPL half-century.
Asif, who opened the bowling for his team alongside Lungi Ngidi, was called in to bowl his third over. In which was the 15th over of the innings, Gill commenced it by hitting a fierce pull over deep midwicket for a six. On the fourth ball of the over, Gill cut an Asif delivery over the point fielder for another six.
On the final delivery of the over, Karthik swivelled well to hit another six in the over. Post Asif’s third over, the Knight Riders required 37 runs off 20 balls. Watch the full video:
