In a see-saw battle played out the Hyderabad ground, Chennai Super Kings prevailed in another heart-stopping encounter as SRH crashed to their second loss. It came down to the last ball where Sunrisers Hyderabad needed only six runs on the last ball to register an unbelievable win, in the end, Dwayne Bravo conceded only a single.

The turning point of the match was Bravo’s 18th over where he gave away only nine runs and took the wicket of Kane Williamson. Before the over began, SRH needed 42 runs in 18 balls. With Pathan and Williamson slamming the way they were, it looked doable. Bravo had other plans though.

The first ball from Bravo was a short one and Pathan smashed it away for a boundary. After that, however, Bravo regained his composure and bowled the critical full length and controlled his line efficiently. The pressure was building on Williamson who was batting on 84 from 50 balls. A slower ball from Bravo deceived Williamson who was caught brilliantly by Jadeja.

Although Yusuf Pathan kept hitting from one end, losing Williamson was a big blow for SRH and they eventually lost by 4 runs.

Earlier in the day, Chennai Super Kings were asked to bat first by the SRH captain Kane Williamson and his bowlers made an impressive start. Bhuvi and Stanlake kept CSK below the lowest powerplay score. It was the pair of Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina that took Chennai to the formidable score of 183/2. The target for SRH was always going to be stiff for SRH.

Williamson played a captain’s knock today.

The chase began on a false note for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Young bowler Deepak Chahar rocked SRH early with triple blows. Debutant Ricky Bhui was sent back for 0 also consuming the maiden over. Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda were sent back quickly by Chahar.

The task fell on the shoulders of Williamson and Shakib Al Hasan. The Kiwi captain was in no mood to take another defeat and started building fantastic innings. His skills with the willow were never doubted but he batted in a totally different mood.
