The Afghan leg-spinner started the tournament in a spectacular fashion. He bowled a very economical spell against Mumbai Indians which earned him the Man of the Match award despite taking only one wicket. His economy in the tournament was splendid. All those numbers were spoiled as he confronted the old enemy in Chris Gayle. In the murderous mood that he is usually Gayle literally destroyed Rashid Khan by hitting him for four consecutive sixes. The economy sky-rocketed through the roof as he conceded 53 runs in his four overs. Even against CSK, he got hammered by the batsmen like Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina
