In the 30th game of IPL 2018, Hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 13 runs at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune) on Monday night. While CSK put a big total of 211/4 in 20 overs, Delhi replied with 198/5 in 20 overs.
Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer decided to field first after winning the toss. CSK had a very great start in their innings as their openers Shane Watson and Faf de Plessis put an excellent century partnership for the opening wicket. After getting 56/0 on the board at the end of the powerplay, both provided total 102-run partnership for that wicket.
While Faf was dismissed for 33 runs, Suresh Raina departed cheaply for just 1 run. Watson carried his innings till the 14th over before getting out as he scored 78 runs off 40 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes.
In the late moment, in-form batsmen Ambati Rayudu and CSK captain MS Dhoni batted in the smashing way as Delhi bowlers seemed helpless. Rayudu scored 41 runs off 24 balls (5 fours and only six) and MS Dhoni was unbeaten on 51 runs off just 22 balls (2 fours and 5 sixes) as he completed his half-century in the very last ball of that innings. The strong batting helped CSK to put a big total of 211/4 at the end of 20 overs.
Among the DD bowlers, Amit Mishra (1/30), Vijay Shankar (1/22) and Glenn Maxwell (1/5) picked up one wicket each.
Chasing down that big target, Delhi lost their top wickets regularly which slowly took away their game. There were not any good partnerships in the top-order batting.
For the fifth wicket, Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar provided an important 88-run partnership. However, it was still too late for the team even Vijay Shankar showed some superb power-hitting in the last two overs.
Both batsmen completed their half-centuries as Pant was dismissed for 79 runs off 45 balls (7 fours and 4 sixes) while Vijay was not out on 54 runs off 31 balls (only four and 5 sixes). Their batting helped Delhi to score 198/5 at the end of 20 overs.
Among the CSK bowlers, KM Asif (2/43) picked up two wickets while Lungi Ngidi (1/26) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/31) claimed one wicket each.

Different ways and adjectives to describe @msdhoni batting today – I would say he’s batting like the Mahi of 2006-08 #CSKvDD

Rayudu has always been a great striker, especially on the leg side, but his off-side play this season has been prodigious ,definitely seems like something, he has worked on #CSKvDD #IPL2018

Shane Watson made most of the umpire's gift. 78 in 40. Csk though will risk losing the momentum if they don't finish well.

First time I agree with Sanjay Manjrekar. Pant losing balance far too often and hence not timing his big shots as often.
