In the 35th game of IPL 2018, hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK) claimed a thrashing victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune) on Saturday evening. After restricting RCB for just 127/9 in 20 overs, CSK easily chased down that target in 18 overs after losing 4 wickets.

CSK skipper MS Dhoni decided to field first after winning the toss. Most of the RCB batsmen performed very poorly as the team failed to put a good total on the board. Apart from opener Parthiv Patel and no.8 batsman Tim Southee, none of the other RCB batsmen reached the double-digit score.
While every other batsman was dismissed cheaply, wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel played a brilliant 53-run knock off 41 balls. However, it was once 89/8 before RCB lower-order batsmen Tim Southee and Mohammed Siraj provided a crucial 38-run partnership for the ninth wicket as the team succeeded to cross the 100-run mark.
Southee played a great knock at the end as he scored an unbeaten 36 runs off 26 balls. His knock hugely helped RCB to put 127 on the board (127/9) at the end of 20 overs.
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the best bowler among the CSK bowlers as his bowling figure was 4-0-18-3. Also, Harbhajan Singh (2/22) took two wickets while David Willey (1/24) and Lungi Ngidi (1/24) got one wicket each.
In reply, CSK opener Shane Watson was dismissed early for just 11 runs before another opener Ambati Rayudu and no.3 batsman Suresh Raina put an important 44-run partnership for the second wicket.
In the middle of the innings, CSK lost three quick wickets as the set batsmen Rayudu (32 runs) and Raina (25 runs) were dismissed along with Dhruv Shorey (8 runs).
However, later MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo put a crucial unbroken 48-run partnership for the fifth wicket that secured an easy victory for the hosts. At the end of that innings, Dhoni was not out on 31 runs while Bravo was unbeaten on 14 runs.
Among the RCB bowlers, Umesh Yadav (2/15) clinched two wickets while Colin de Grandhomme (1/16) and Murugan Ashwin (1/17) took one wicket each.

Bowlers have created enough chances to keep #RCB alive….some of the fielding efforts have let them down though. Southee—the only exception. #CSKvRCB #IPL

26 sixes for MS Dhoni this IPL – his most in an IPL season.
He had hit 25 sixes in 2013. #CSKvRCB
