Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Andre Russell played a brilliant stormy knock against the hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai). The right-handed batsman played an unbeaten 88 runs knock off just 36 balls.
The Caribbean all-rounder came to bat at no.7 when KKR was struggling on 89/5 at the end of 10 overs. With the time went on, Russell was becoming dangerous with the bat. He played some smashing shots while CSK bowlers were seeming clueless against him, especially in the last moments.
Russell completed his half-century in just 26 balls with only four and six sixes. However, it was not his end as he carried that innings till the end of that innings. Batting more dangerously after completing his half-century, Russell finished with unbeaten 88 runs knock off just 36 balls. With the 244.44 strike-rate, Russell hit only four and 11 sixes.
He also put a brilliant 76-runs partnership with the skipper Dinesh Karthik for the sixth wicket that recovered the visitors superbly. His staying in the crease helped KKR to put 202/6 on the board at the end of 20 overs. KKR scored 113 runs in the last 10 overs, while they added 79 runs in the last five overs.

Most 6s for KKR in an IPL innings:
13 – Brendon McCullum v RCB, Bangalore, 2008
11 – ANDRE RUSSELL v CSK, Chennai, 2018*
8 – Chris Gayle v KXIP, Kolkata, 2010
8 – Chris Lynn v GL, Rajkot, 2017#CSKvsKKR— Umang Pabari (@UPStatsman) April 10, 2018
Now it remains to be seen if Andre Russell can put the ball in the gaps and pick up singles. ๐#AndrePower
