Chennai Super Kings (CSK) snatched another thrilling victory after beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the high-scoring game at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai) on Tuesday night.  KKR scored 202/6 in 20 overs, which was successfully chased by the hosts CSK with one ball left and losing 5 wickets.

Sam Billings is the hero of the match

CSK skipper MS Dhoni decided to bowl first. While KKR opener Sunil Narine began with two sixes but failed to make longer his innings as he was dismissed on 12 runs.

Another KKR opener Chris Lynn had a good start but he also failed to stretch his innings as he was dismissed for 22 runs off 16 balls. At the end of the powerplay, the hosts scored 64/2. The next batsmen also failed to play long innings as Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh scored  29, 16 and 2 runs respectively.

At the end of the 10 overs, KKR was struggling on 89/5. While skipper Dinesh Karthik was searching for a partnership, Andre Russell showed his skill again with the bat. First, he provided 76-runs partnership for the sixth wicket along with Dinesh Karthik where he completed a brilliant half-century in just 26 balls.

Later, he took the beast mode at the end of the innings while Karthik was dismissed for 26 runs (25 balls). Russell remained unbeaten at the end after scoring 88 runs off just 36 balls with one four and 11 sixes. With his dangerous batting performance, KKR managed to put a big total on the board of 202/6 at the end of 20 overs. KKR scored 113 runs in the last 10 overs, while they added 79 runs in the last five overs.

Among the CSK bowlers, Shane Watson (2/39) picked up 2 wickets while Harbhajan Singh (1/11), Ravindra Jadeja (1/19) and Shardul Thakur (1/37) claimed one wicket each.

Since that dismissal, CSK struggled in the middle overs. Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina were out on 39 and 14 runs respectively.

Billings was dismissed in the 19th over after scoring 56 off 23 balls. Ravindra Jadeja (11 runs off 7 balls) and Dwayne Bravo (11 runs off 5 balls) successfully completed the match for the hosts’ side.
