Delhi Daredevils, who are playing for their pride more than a playoff spot, registered a morale-boosting win over Chennai Super Kings at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. In the end, Delhi won the match quite comfortably when it was thought the team in-form Chennai will cruise to a win. In the end, Delhi won the match by a whopping 34 runs.

Rayudu has been consistent for CSK this year.

Chennai Super Kings tonight had a slower than usual start and failed to kill the chase in the powerplay overs. Shane Watson played a sluggish knock and got out for 17 runs from 23 balls. His partner Ambati Rayudu, who has been in an extremely good form this season, delivered again and scored a valiant 50 from just 29 balls.

After him, rest of the Chennai batting failed to hold the fort and lost out the momentum. Even the magical MS Dhoni could not do his Midas touch tonight and got out for only 17 runs from 23 balls. The turning point of the match happened in the last over of the first innings though.

After 19 overs, Delhi Daredevils’ score had reached 136-5 and they were is desperate need of a final touch to their innings. It was at this point in time that Harshal Patel (3) and Vijay Shankar (1) hit four sixes in an over to bolster their team’s chances.

On the first ball of the over, Patel hit first six through the long-on region. On the third delivery, Shankar read the slowness of the ball as he hit Bravo for a towering six over deep mid-wicket. On the penultimate delivery of the over, Bravo once again bowled in the arc of the batsman and ended up getting hit for a six over his head. Bravo went from bad to worse, bowling the last ball as a full-toss, which the batsman hit down the ground to accumulate 26 runs off the over.
