3. The rise of Mayank Markande

During the seventh match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad, Mayank Markande continued from where he left off against Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai in the season opener.

Mayank Markande, IPL’s newest sensation

The 20-year old leg break bowler from Bathinda bettered his figures from his debut match as he picked up his maiden four-for in the IPL in only his second match. Just like in the match against Super Kings, Markande’s spell brought his team back into the match on several occasions. Additionally, he picked up wickets when his team desperately needed them in a bid to defend a lackluster total.

Can Delhi batsman pick him will be interesting to see.

4. Delhi’s M-Factor

Delhi Daredevils although have been off the mark so far, they will be heavily relying on their overseas batsmen to take the team through. This year, the possess the holy trinity of M’s which is expected to the take the team to its maiden IPL Trophy.

Colin Munro, the kiwi opener, has had a brilliant T20I year so far. He holds the record of most international T20I centuries and all those have come in last year or so, In this season, however, he has failed to get a decent start on both the decision and has been out cheaply.

Glenn Maxwell, the Aussie big-hitter is still waiting to make it into the national team. He received a lot flak before he replied with his strong performances in the Big Bash League. Maxwell missed the first match since he had to attend Finch marriage. He did not do anything spectacular in the shortened game.

Chris Morris lit up the last season for Delhi Daredevils. He delivered with his consistent bowling and big-hitting at the end. In the season so far, he is yet to reach his best. He showed glimpses in the first match with 27(16) and 1/25.

5. Gautam Gambhir’s batting

The Delhi captain was criticised heavily for not appearing in the batting line-up in the rain-shortened game. Many thought that a level-headed batsman at one end should have helped Delhi rather than everyone swinging their bats madly.

In the first match, Gautam Gambhir was the one who helped the innings together with his scintillating 55 from 42 balls. While wickets kept falling at the other end, he kept fighting from his spot and took Delhi to a good total. It will be interesting to see how he goes about against Mumbai.
