During the 30th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Pune, Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu and Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit a whopping 21 runs off a Trent Boult over.
Having won the toss, Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl first. The Daredevils fielded an unchanged playing eleven. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings made four changes to their playing eleven. Faf du Plessis, Karn Sharma, KM Asif and Lungi Ngidi were included in place of Sam Billings, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and Imran Tahir.
Shane Watson and du Plessis started the innings on a watchful note, but picked up after the first few overs. Watson per se was brutal against the opposition bowlers. Rayudu and Dhoni were united in the middle in the 14th over after Watson got out.
In the 17th over, which was also Trent Boult’s third over, the Chennai batsmen accumulated 21 runs. On the first ball of the over, Dhoni hit a flat-batted six over the deep midwicket fielder. He followed it with another powerful blow over the long ong fielder.
Boult tried bowling a short delivery on the following ball, but Dhoni judged the length on time and pulled it through the vacant deep square leg fielder. On the penultimate delivery of the over, Rayudu walked across to hit the ball through the long on region for a four.
