During the 35th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Pune, MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings’ captain, put on display his swift glove work which put curtains to AB de Villiers’ knock.

Earlier Dhoni had won the toss and chose to field. Chennai Super Kings made three changes to their playing eleven, bringing back Shardul Thakur and handing respective IPL debuts to Dhruv Shorey and David Willey. Faf du Plessis, Karn Sharma and KM Asif made way for them. Royal Challengers Bangalore also made three changes to their side. They brought in Parthiv Patel, AB de Villiers & Murugan Ashwin in place of Quinton de Kock, Manan Vohra & Washington Sundar.

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost wickets from the inception to the extent that none of the top five stood by Parthiv Patel, their only specialist batsman who looked to dominate the opposition. de Villiers, who came in to bat at No. 4 in the seventh over, was dismissed in the next over.

Harbhajan Singh, who was bowling his first over, got the better of de Villiers. It happened on the third ball of the eighth over when the bowler bowled an off-spin delivery on the middle stump. de Villiers fancied his chances against the veteran Indian bowler as he attempted an unsuccessful reverse sweep.

In a bid to make contact with the ball, de Villiers had stretched his back foot to the extent that it couldn’t fight against Dhoni’s brilliance behind the wickets. de Villiers ended up scoring 1 (4). Watch the full video:
