During that game, Kohli breached the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences. While it was their first offence in this season, Kohli faced a fine of INR 12 lakh.

An IPL press release stated, “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh.”

While it was the first minimum over-rate offence for RCB in this season, the other playing XI members have not faced any fine. Kohli has to alert on this issue as his next similar minor over-rate offence in this season will bring INR 24 lakh fine for him while his other playing XI members will face also a fine (lesser amount between INR 6 lakh and 25% of match fees for each player).

In addition, for the third and each subsequent offence in an IPL season, bowling team captain will face next match ban along with INR 30 lakh fine while his other playing XI members will also face a fine (lesser amount between INR 12 lakh and 50% of match fees for each player).

During the RCB vs CSK match, RCB scored 205/8 in 20 overs after they were forced to bat first. In reply, CSK was once 74/4 in 9 overs. But, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni’s brilliant batting helped CSK to make a comeback in this game and snatched the game at the end. Rayudu played a superb knock of 82 runs off 53 balls (3 fours and 8 sixes) while Player of the Match award winner Dhoni finished the game with his unbeaten knock of 70 runs off 34 balls (only four and 7 sixes).

At the end of the match, Kohli blamed his team’s bowling performance for that defeat. Talking about giving away huge runs at the end, Kohli remarked that as ‘criminal’ offence.

Kohli said in the post-match presentation, “Many things we can look at from this game. The way we bowled was just not acceptable, giving that many runs, in the end, was criminal. It is something we need to look at and address going forward. If we can’t defend 200 then it’s a problem after 72 for 4 when the lower middle order does that to you. We have to back the guys and have enough confidence in them and they need to be clear in their head to execute things. The pitch played really well, spin played a massive factor. Some quality batting with both sides getting 200. Rayudu is not young, he’s been around for 15 years now. He’s a quality player and he’s done well for India. You never know who gets a chance somewhere and I’m happy for him. Dhoni is looking in really good touch, he’s hitting the ball really well this IPL but not great to see it against us.”
