Royal Challengers Bangalore batted first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and raised a total of 205 runs in the first innings. Chennai Super Kings were struggling to keep up with the run-rate and the chase was getting improbable. It was MS Dhoni’s magic that once again made CSK do the impossible. Along with him, it was Rayudu’s 82 that was the major innings that helped CSK get past.

Dhoni in action.

RCB had the chance of cutting short Rayudu’s innings in the 16th over. Corey Anderson had the responsibility of bowling that over. Before the over began, CSK needed 71 runs to win 30 balls with MS Dhoni 38(22) and Ambati Rayudu 61(44) at the crease.

First two balls from Anderson were good. The first ball from him was smashed straight down the ground by Dhoni. The ball was destined to go for a boundary but Kohli was quicker than destiny. He cut it short only for a single. The strike was rotated. Rayudu failed to connect the next ball and the pressure increased.

Next ball, Rayudu tried to manufacture a big shot outside off stump, the slog did not go as desired and the ball went high up in the air. Umesh Yadav had a lot of time to get under the ball. The ball touched his both hands and went straight through them. Kohli was bewildered.

The fortunes changed for Chennai. Rayudu then smacked two consecutive sixes on the last two balls of the over. He added 21 runs in the eight balls that he faced after getting dropped. After Rayudu’s dismissal, Dhoni and Bravo controlled the match and cruised to an impossible chase of 205 with a magnificent six on the last ball by MS Dhoni.
