During the 56th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Pune, Chennai Super Kings’ Shardul Thakur conceded 18 runs in an over as Kings XI Punjab attempted to finish the innings on a high note.

Earlier MS Dhoni, captain of Chennai Super Kings, had won the toss and chose to field. Chennai Super Kings chose Faf du Plessis over Shane Watson in the last league match of this season. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab brought in David Miller and Karun Nair into the playing eleven in place of Marcus Stoinis and Yuvraj Singh.

Nair pulled Thakur for a six.

On a quick and bouncy Pune pitch, Kings XI Punjab’s batsmen struggled to score runs. The conditions were such that run-scoring had become a daunting task. Manoj Tiwary, David Miller and Karun Nair played important cameos to put on board a decent over for Kings XI.

On the third delivery of the 17th over, Axar Patel pulled a short delivery without much timing as the ball went high in the air towards the deep square leg region. Sam Billings, who was fielding at deep square leg, ran in from the boundary to dive and take a stunner. Patel ended up scoring 14 (12) with the help of one six. Watch the video:
