The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for the upcoming edition of 2018 has started at Bangalore and it will be engrossing to see how each of the teams finally shape up. Here is what the 2017 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad are up to in the auctions.
The first player bought by SRH is none other than the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan. Kings XI Punjab has started the bid for the opener which was carried forward by the Rajasthan Royals. But it was KXIP, who bought Dhawan for 5.2 Cr, but came in later and used RTM card and bought him for the same value.
The New Zealand captain Kane Williamson heads back to SRH has there were no other takers for him. Williamson heads back to Sunrisers for INR 3 Crore. Good buy for the 2016 champions.
Star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan also could find only one buyer and he will go to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 2 Crore. He last played for KKR in the IPL and will now play for SRH don the jersey of one time champions SRH.
Indian batsman Manish Pandey will be laughing his way to the bank now as he has been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping amount of INR 11 Crores. Pandey last played for KKR in the league and they even had the option of retaining him but they chose not to.
West Indian star Carlos Brathwaite is sold for his base price of INR 2 Crore to SRH. There were not many buyers for him in the auction and therefore it was very easy for SRH to acquire him. Brathwaite last played for Delhi in the IPL.
All-rounder Yusuf Pathan finally goes to SRH for INR 1.9 Cr. He played for KKR in the last season of IPL but they didn’t use the RTM card for him. Yusuf for 1.9 Cr is a good solid buy for SRH.
After an extreme bidding war between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, SRH wins the race for Wridhhiman Saha. He has been bought for a whopping amount of INR 5 Cr. Saha’s selling price is way ahead of his base price and that shows he was in demand for this auction.
The battle was heating up for Afghanistan star Rashid Khan, he took his second ODI five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 7 wickets for 18 runs against the West Indies at Gros Islet. He was named the ICC Associate Cricketer of the Year in January 2018. KXIP bought him for INR 9 crores but SRH use their RTM card in the end and got him back in the squad.
Delhi Daredevils thought they had bought the talented youngster Deepak Hooda for just INR 3.4 Cr. But SRH was having none of it as they played their RTM card to get hold of the player.
Siddharth Kaul goes to SRH for a huge sum of 3.8 Cr. Kaul was the teammate of Virat Kohli during his time at the Under 19 World Cup. SRH also win the race to sign T Natrajan for Rs 40 Lakh.
Basil Thampi is sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 95 Lakh. SRH also bought Khaleel Ahmed for a whopping sum of Rs 3 Crore. He played with Delhi Daredevils in 2017 and they even tried to sign him this time around but failed to match SRH’s price.
