During the 30th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Pune, Delhi Daredevils’ Vijay Shankar took on Dwayne Bravo as he hit the Caribbean all-rounder for three sixes in the penultimate over of the match.
After Iyer put the home team in to bat, Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis started the innings on a watchful note, but picked up after the first few overs. The duo ended up sharing a 102-run stand for the first wicket. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni came in to bat in the 14th over after Watson was dismissed by Amit Mishra. Dhoni did not waste time in getting his eye in, playing his shots from the word go. Rayudu, on the other end, provided equal support to his captain.
Delhi Daredevils required 49 runs to win in the last two overs. Bravo, who had conceded 22 runs in his first two overs, was to bowl the penultimate over. On the third ball of the over, Vijay Shankar read a Bravo slower one and dispatched it for a six over long on.
Bravo chose to reduce his length on the following delivery, but Shankar hit the short ball over the deep midwicket fielder for another six. On the last ball of the over, Bravo bowled a slower length ball only to be hit for another six over long on.
