The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the upcoming edition of 2019 has started at Jaipur and it will be engrossing to see how each of the teams finally shape up. Here is what the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is up to in the auctions.

Mohit Sharma has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for 5 crore. He has been out of considerations for a while but he goes back to CSK, where he had the best of his IPL days. He will now be expected to blossom once again under MS Dhoni.

He played for the Kings XI Punjab in the last IPL, has returned to Chennai. The fast bowler has the ability to pick up wickets during the powerplay overs and can bowl at a decent economy rate. The 30- year-old has picked up 109 wickets in 110 T20 matches.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad was bought for 20 lakh which was his base price by the Chennai Super Kings. He has shown good form in his recent matches. The opening batsman scored 67 against Sri Lanka in the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup earlier this month and notched a century against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy in November.

Gaikwad has played 5 T20s in his career so far, scoring 131 runs at an average of 26.20. He bats at a decent strike-rate of 137.89.

After the auction:

CSK team management didn’t have much to buy in the auction as most of their bases were already covered, but still, they will be happy to have Mohit Sharma back in the squad.
