KL Rahul has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the Indian Premier League 2019, where he has 300 plus runs already after just playing seven matches. Rahul went bonkers against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night as he notched up his maiden IPL ton in a great style. He was batting with Chris Gayle, who tore Mumbai’s bowling lineup apart and Rahul was playing as the second fiddle in the 113-run opening partnership.

Once Gayle got out, KL took the control over the pace of Punjab’s innings. He took a bit time to start hitting big and once he did, it was all or nothing. Rahul smashed three sixes and one four in Hardik Pandya’s one over and completed his hundredth run in Jasprit Bumrah’s over.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara was seen in all praises for the talented batsman after seeing his batting powers. Lara is currently enjoying the Indian Premier League from the studio of Star Sports, where he is analyzing the game. Praising Rahul, he admitted that he can see him batting every day.

“I like him as a batsman. He has got a great technique; he has got a lot of styles. Chris Gayle got out and he knew he had to bat till the end. To get a hundred in an IPL game is amazing. I just love the way he bats and I can watch him bat every single day,” Lara said in the post-match show on Star Sports.

Riding on Rahul’s ton, Kings XI Punjab posted a mammoth total of 197 in 20 overs. But it proved less for them to win the game. An inspired Kieron Pollard won the game for Mumbai single-handedly by three wickets. Pollard came to bat at number four and scored a flamboyant 31-ball 83 runs featuring three fours and ten towering sixes.

Punjab will next play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday night at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
