This can be one of the worst news for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out for two weeks with a Grade 1 hamstring tear. The news was confirmed by CSK’s batting coach, Michael Hussey a day ahead of their clash against Kings XI Punjab in Chennai.
The team has already been hit with players missing out this season. Lungi Ngidi was ruled out before the start of the tournament while David Willey opted out due to the birth of his second child. They roped in New Zealand’s Scott Kuggeleijn last week as a replacement for Ngidi.

Talking about the injury, Hussey said, “It’s going to cause a little bit of rejigging of the team but I am sure we are going to be able to put together a very strong team. It’s a big loss but we have had these challenges in the past. Let’s hope we can do this again.”
Even during the post-mast presentation of the match against MI, CSK skipper, MS Dhoni said, “Bravo has a hamstring injury, we don’t have a few players, we already have some injuries, David Willey isn’t there, he has his own problems, Lungi Ngidi isn’t with us as well, we will have to look at the pitch and then decide on the right combination.”
Bravo plays the role of the death over specialist for CSK and Hussey opined that they would have to look at various options, including maybe spin to cover for the loss of Bravo.

Hussey said, “I am sure MS [Dhoni] and [Stephen] Fleming will be looking at Scott Kuggeleijn and assessing his death bowling skills. We’ve got Shardul [Thakur]. Mohit [Sharma] can bowl at the death as well. It’s about assessing the conditions. If it’s turning, I think one of the spinners can bowl at the death. I am sure there will be a lot of strategic thinking and it’s a key area of the game.”
