The flamboyant all-rounder, Hardik Pandya is making it a habit of playing the Helicopter shot almost in every game of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is the trademark shot of none other than former India skipper MS Dhoni. In fact, a couple of weeks ago Pandya played the helicopter shot right in front Dhoni when Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In the final over of Mumbai’s innings, Hardik had smashed Dwayne Bravo for two sixes with the first being a helicopter shot.

On Thursday, Hardik was at it again when Mumbai was taking on Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The all-rounder was facing the fiery Kagiso Rabada. On the second ball of that over, Rabada bowled a full-length delivery to Pandya and for a fraction of a second, it looked like the Mumbai star wouldn’t be able to clear the fence.

However, Pandya left everyone shellshocked by executing the helicopter shot to perfection and it seems that Pandya’s shots have impressed Dhoni. The cricketer himself revealed that he asked the veteran about his take on his shots and the inventor of that shot said they were good.

Describing the same, Mumbai Indians tweeted, “I went to MS Dhoni’s room and asked him if he liked my version of the helicopter shot. He said it was good”.

Meanwhile, Hardik was one of the star performers with the bat for MI as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 40 runs to return to winning ways. He slammed 32 from just 15 to help Mumbai post 168. In reply, Delhi could only post 128 for 9. Speaking at the end of the match while receiving the Man of the Match award, Pandya said he too is surprised with the way he is hitting the ball at the moment.

Hardik said, “Even I was telling myself that I don’t think I’ve ever hit the ball better. I have been working hard in the nets and it has been coming off well for me.”
