Chris Gayle (KXIP)

Universe Boss missed the last game of KXIP but he was playing against CSK. Expectations were sky high from him but he couldn’t give Punjab a blazing start, which they required chasing a good total. MS Dhoni opted for the old strategy against Gayle as he unleashed an off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, against him, who removed the big West Indian opener in the second over of the game. He scored just five runs in seven balls including one four.

Mayank Agarwal (KXIP)

Harbhajan Singh gave Punjab an early jolt when he dismissed Mayank Agarwal two balls after taking Chris Gayle’s wicket. Punjab’s number three hasn’t had good outings in previous matches and his poor form with the bat stretched further with a silver duck against CSK.

Mohammad Shami (KXIP)

Punjab’s spearhead Mohammad Shami was not at his usual best against Chennai. He failed to give Punjab an early breakthrough during the powerplay and leaked boundaries on regular intervals.
