The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have done some good for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their last game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Going into the final day of the league stage, the fourth qualifying spot is yet to be finalized with KKR having the real chance to go through to the playoffs. On the other hand, SRH will pray for Mumbai Indians (MI) defeat KKR so that the orange army can qualify.
Despite losing Saha early, SRH ended up scoring 52 runs in the powerplay thanks to the powerful hitting of Martin Guptill. However, things took a drastic change for the visitors in the 8th over bowled by Sundar as he dismissed Guptill with a soft dismissal and the in-form batsman Manish Pandey owing to a brilliant catch by Hetmyer in the same over.

After those dismissals, SRH needed a partnership and Williamson started one with Vijay Shankar as they added 45 runs for the 4th wicket before the latter getting out in the 14th over of Sundar. Before getting out he had smashed bowler for a couple of sixes. Soon SRH lost the crucial wickets of Yusuf Pathan, Mohammad Nabi, and Rashid Khan as well.
The visitors were struggling at 147/7 after the 19 over, but then Williamson smashed the final over bowled by Umesh Yadav for 28 runs with the help of 3 fours and a couple of sixes. On the penultimate ball of the over, the umpire called a no-ball which was a wrong call, which helped Williamson to score an extra boundary and take his team to a total of 175/7 in their quota of 20 overs.

During the chase, RCB suffered a huge loss in the first over after the dismissal of Parthiv Patel for a duck. After his dismissal, Kohli and Ab de Villiers also got out soon and the hosts were struggling at 20/3 after the first three over. Then Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Singh started to make a partnership and they added as many as 144 runs for the 4th wicket as they kept on smashing the SRH bowlers on a regular basis.
Gurkeerat and Hetmyer both scored the fifties, but the latter got out in the 18th over of Rashid Khan and in the next 5 balls they lost two more wickets of Sundar and Gurkeerat. RCB needed 6 runs in the final over and Umesh smashed two back-to-back boundaries to win the game by 4 wickets and as many balls to spare.
Brief Score:
Royal Challengers Bangalore – 178/6 in 19.2 overs (S Hetmyer: 75, G Singh: 65; K Ahmed: 3/37) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad – 175/7 in 20 overs (K Williamson: 70*; W Sundar: 3/24) by four wickets
Here is how Twitter reacted to RCB’s final win of IPL 2019:
The lone playoff berth will be decided after the final league match between #MIvKKR tomorrow. That's how close and competitive #VIVOIPL is.

RCB may not have ever won the IPL but it sure has some of the best fans. Lovely to see @imVkohli say thank you to them for their support through good times and bad! Gnight shubhratri.

A win for @KKRiders tomorrow will seal the deal. A loss will mean all kinds of math coming into play. After the 6 losses this was a reasonable comeback from @RCBTweets and glad after all that he got Umesh hit the winning runs!

If #MI beat #KKR tomorrow, they also make the top two which is an added incentive. Unless. #CSK lose badly to #KingsXI, they make the top two as well.

The sort of win RCB were craving for. A win scripted by others and not Virat or AB. Just come a little too late in the day. One for those incredible fans in Bengaluru. They deserved this #RCBvSRH

Commentators: RCB ends on a high.
Yes, 7th or 8th position out of 8 teams is indeed very high. 😂
