David Warner was not playing in the IPL 2018 for the same reason off Steve Smith. Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t take long to hand Kane Williamson the reigns of the team. Everyone was thinking how well this textbook type batsman can bat in the T20s and lead a team like Hyderabad. Williamson had some other plans to shut all the critics. He scored a mammoth 735 runs in the tournament at an average of 52.40. He scored eight fifties during the tournament and topped all the batting charts in the league.

Hyderabad enjoyed playing under Williamson and formed into a team to beat last year. SRH topped the points table and thrashed almost every team in style. But it was Chennai Super Kings, who proved as a thorn in their flash and beat them as many as four times in the tournament, including the all-important final. Williamson’s men finished as the second best team of the tournament behind CSK.
