The Indian all-rounder, Kedar Jadhav will not be able to play in the remaining games of the IPL 2019 as he has picked up a shoulder injury while fielding during final league game of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Sunday. On Monday, Jadhav is scheduled for scans and an x-ray and it will confirm the extent of his injury, which Stephen Fleming said: “didn’t look good.”

Talking about the extent of the injury, Fleming said, “He’s getting an x-ray and a scan tomorrow, so we’re hopeful for him. I don’t think we’ll see him again in this tournament for us. His attention is turned to the World Cup. He’s in some discomfort but we need to be accurate with our assessment tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it is nothing too serious but it didn’t look that good.”

Jadhav sustained the injury while diving to save an overthrow at the boundary line in 14th over of KXIP’s innings. He walked off the field clutching his left shoulder and didn’t return for the remainder of the chase, which KXIP sealed with two overs to spare.

The timing of Jadhav’s injury is very bad as the first World Cup match is exactly 30 days from now as the men in blue will be locking horns with South Africa on June 5 and he is expected to play a crucial role for the team in the middle-order thanks to his quick scoring and part-time bowling abilities.

Talking about his World Cup dream, Jadhav had once said, “Basically every cricketer who plays for India it’s a dream for him to feature in a World Cup team, and I’m no different to that. My workload, I think, is about managing my bowling. In Chennai Super Kings, I don’t think I need to bowl as much as I do in the Indian team. We all are professional cricketers and we know how to manage our bodies. How you recover after every IPL game really matters during this two-month period.”

Kedar has had a dull IPL season with the bat as he amassed just 162 runs from 12 innings at a strike-rate of 95.86 and a top score of 58 against Mumbai Indians (MI).
