Former West Indies skipper Brian Lara believes Royal Challengers Bangalore looked like short of match practice during their game against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. Lara feels while Virat Kohli can be jaded after the tour of England, the rest of the players looked rusty.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a poor match against Kolkata Knight Riders as they got all out for 92 while batting first. In response, KKR chased down the target with nine wickets in hand and 10 overs to spare.

“One of the areas (of concern for RCB) is ‘where is the match fitness? It could be a jaded Virat Kohli as well,” Lara told Cricket.com

“Are guys lacking match practice? Yes. You look at (Glenn) Maxwell. He looked disgusted. He looked frustrated and all of a sudden, he was back. He was nowhere near that delivery. That looked to me like a guy who was mentally not there and willing to handle the battle at hand,” the West Indies great pointed out.”

RCB had won four straight matches against KKR going into the last yesterday but they were humbled by the Eoin Morgan-led side. Lara believes both teams were closely matched than what the recent stats would say.

“We think here is an RCB team that hasn’t only dominated in the first half but they have played better cricket. They had five wins out of seven and with KKR struggling, you think it is going to be a walk in a part. But when you really look man to man, the contest is closer,” Lara said.

Despite the defeat, RCB are sitting at third place in the points table but their net run rate has received a serious pelting. Currently, they have the worst run rate (-0.706) despite being in the top half of the points table.
