In the 36th match of the Indian Premier League 2021, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals were up against each other. Delhi Capitals are among the most consistent team of this season while Rajasthan Royals have been inconsistent with their form.
Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first. They made two changes in their team in their playing XI by bringing David Miller and Tabraiz Shamsi in as Evin Lewis and Chris Morris made way. DC, on the other hand, dropped Marcus Stoinis to fit in Lalit Yadav.

DC got off to a shaky start as they lost Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw inside the powerplay and managed to yield only 36 runs in the first six overs. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant tried to stabilize things for their team but Pant fell to Mustafizur Rahman.
Iyer scored 43 runs before getting stumped out to Rahul Tewatia. Shimron Hetmyer scored 28 runs and followed the same pattern of throwing his start away like the other DC batsmen. DC huffed and puffed to reach 154/6 in 20 overs. Mustafizur and Chetan Sakariya, both, picked two wickets apiece for RR.
In response, Rajasthan Royals’ innings got jolted early as Avesh Khan and Anrich Nortje made life difficult for the batsmen. Liam Livingstone, Yashasvi Jaiswal and David Miller got out inside the powerplay.
Sanju Samson was standing tall at one end but couldn’t enforce life into RR’s chase. He saw his partners throwing their wickets away. Mahipal Lomror scored 19 runs but they came in 24 balls, which eventually swelled the asking rate for RR.

Top class innings from Sanju Samson. The gulf between him and the other batsmen has been there to see.

Sanju Samson’s playing a brilliant hand, but by himself may not be able to turn the tables on #DC. Tewatia must come to the party too. Match has been infused with life, whatever the outcome

Fizz takes the fizz out of the Delhi innings. Superb from him. @rajasthanroyals Shimron gone.

#RR putting #DC to stiff test. If They can restrict score to 160-165, will fancy their chances

That is a good win for #RCB, #MI and #KKR. Samson's knock has ensured NRR of #RR is not severely jolted.
Technically DC has not made it to the Play-Offs yet, but no team with 16-points in 14-game league phase has failed to make it to knockouts/playoffs before.#DCvRR— Deepu Narayanan (@deeputalks) September 25, 2021
Remember, #RR win this game they leapfrog to 3rd on the table. There are a few teams silently cheering for #DelhiCapitals today
