CSK got off to a poor start. Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali got out for a duck in the first two overs by Trent Boult and Adam Milne. The New Zealand fast bowling duo further jolted CSK with the wickets of Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni inside the powerplay while Ambati Rayudu was retired hurt after copping a blow on his elbow.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja were batting together with CSK being 24/4 after the powerplay. Both steadied the ship for CSK and shared 81 runs for the fifth wicket before Jadeja got out for 33-ball 26 runs.

Gaikwad was going strong from the other end as he played some outstanding shots during his innings. Dwayne Bravo came out and played a fine cameo to give a surge to CSK total with his 8-ball knock of 23 runs, where he hit three sixes. Gaikwad remained not out on 88 and took CSK’s total to 156/6 in 20 overs.

In response, Mumbai Indians got off to a good start. Quinton de Kock played shots before getting out to Deepak Chahar.
