Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians locked horns in a high-voltage clash to mark the resumption of the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 in the UAE. Both teams were sitting in the top-four before coming into this game and looking to further strengthen their position in the points table.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were not fit enough to feature in this game for Mumbai Indians as Kieron Pollard stepped up to captain the team. MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first in Dubai.

The New Zealand fast bowling duo further jolted CSK with the wickets of Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni inside the powerplay while Ambati Rayudu was retired hurt after copping a blow on his elbow.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja were batting together with CSK being 24/4 after the powerplay. Both steadied the ship for CSK and shared 81 runs for the fifth wicket before Jadeja got out for 33-ball 26 runs.
Gaikwad was going strong from the other end as he played some outstanding shots during his innings. Dwayne Bravo came out and played a fine cameo to give a surge to CSK total with his 8-ball knock of 23 runs, where he hit three sixes. Gaikwad remained not out on 88 and took CSK’s total to 156/6 in 20 overs.
In response, Mumbai Indians got off to a good start. Quinton de Kock played shots before getting out to Deepak Chahar. Anmolpreet Singh played some breathtaking shots during his stay at the crease but was soon dismissed by Deepak Chahar. Shardul Thakur and Dwayne Bravo took wickets to keep a check on MI.

Bravo didn’t allow MI batsmen to score freely in the death overs as they chocked MI for 20 runs defeat. Tiwary scored an unbeaten fifty but it went in vain.

Teams winning after losing first 3 wickets for less than 10 runs when batting first in IPL:
SRH (5 for 3) vs RR, 2013
CSK (7 for 3) vs MI, 2021A comfortable win for #CSK after a horrible start! #IPL2021 #CSKvMI

It was a fantastic come back from a very experienced team #csk specially after losing early 4 wickets. #mi missed the trick not bowling their attacking bowlers in middle over phase. #IPL2O21

That was brilliant defending from CSK. And a masterclass in captaincy from Dhoni #CSKvMI

One of the best victories for @ChennaiIPL! What a comeback! Can't wait to see the mentor @msdhoni in Indian colours in the upcoming t20 world cup, if he can do what he did today on the field I think we will see a repeat of 2007 coming Oct!#CSKvsMI #IPL2021 #MIvsCSK

Got to love T20 cricket. #CSK were gone, buried and now this is their game.

Regardless of the result, Ruturaj has just played a phenomenal inning. #CSKvsMI

Clinical performance from #CSK
Even though it was a see saw battle where @Ruutu1331 shone single handedly. The masterstroke for me today was #Hazlewood v @KieronPollard55, he has been a thorn in the flesh for CSK and they would have been happy to see the back of him!#IPL2O21
