IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals Thumps Table-Toppers CSK, Twitter Reacts

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are playing in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League 2021 in Abu Dhabi. CSK are a win away from securing a top-two finish while RR needs to win this game to stay alive in the competition.

Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. He named as many as four changes in the playing XI as Shivam Dubey, Glenn Phillips, Akash Singh and Mayank Markande find their way in. CSK, on the other hand, made two changes and brought Sam Curran and KM Asif in place of Dwayne Bravo and Deepak Chahar.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis gave CSK a good start and shared 47 runs for the opening wicket before Rahul Tewatia dismissed the latter. Suresh Raina’s poor form with the bat continued as he got out after scoring just 3 runs. Moeen Ali threatened to score quick runs but Tewatia outfoxed him as well.

Gaikwad, meanwhile, was looking solid from the other end. He tore the Rajasthan bowling lineup apart in the death overs. Ravindra Jadeja, coming at number six, gave him good company. He started scoring boundaries as soon as he came out to bat.

Gaikwad raised a sensational century on the last ball of the innings with a mighty six. He scored unbeaten 101 runs off 60 balls, where he hit nine fours and five sixes. Radeja’s quickfire cameo of 32 runs in 15 balls propelled CSK’s total to 189/3 in 20 overs.

In response, Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal took Rajasthan Royals to a flying start. The duo added 77 runs in 5.2 overs before Lewis got out for 27 runs in 12 balls. Yashasvi, on the other end, was unstoppable and scored a flamboyant fifty in just 19 balls. He soon got out for 50 for which he took 21 balls and hit six fours and three sixes.

RR lost two wickets in quick succession when Sanju Samson and Shivam Dubey got combined together. The duo added 89 runs together where Dubey was hitting boundaries for fun. He scored a swashbuckling fifty in 30 balls and took his towards win. Sanju Samson got out for 28 but RR had already won the game by then.

Dubey scored unbeaten 64 runs in 42 balls where he hit four fours and as many sixes. RR won the game by seven wickets
