Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. He named as many as four changes in the playing XI as Shivam Dubey, Glenn Phillips, Akash Singh and Mayank Markande find their way in. CSK, on the other hand, made two changes and brought Sam Curran and KM Asif in place of Dwayne Bravo and Deepak Chahar.

CSK posted a massive total of 189/4 in 20 overs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals got off to a flyer thanks to Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both batsmen smashed CSK bowlers in all corners of the park. Jaiswal in particular was at his brutal best since the first ball of the chase.

He targeted Josh Hazlewood in the powerplay. The Aussie bowler conceded 16 runs in the first over. When he returned for his second over, Jaiswal went berserk and looted 22 runs in that over. Jaiswal hit the second and third ball for a six. The fourth ball went for a boundary. The fifth ball again went over the ropes for yet another maximum.
