Mumbai Indians (MI) will host Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a blockbuster clash in Match 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. Mumbai suffered a demoralizing loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their first game. They posted 171 runs as Tilak Varma played a key role with the bat, but MI’s bowlers had very little success as the RCB chased down the target in 16.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.
The Super Kings started their season with a loss against Gujarat Titans. But they managed to make a strong comeback against the Lucknow Super Giants. Chennai posted 217 runs as Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his fine form with the bat and scored his second half-century of the season. The Super Giants had a great start to the chase but lost their way in the middle and lost the game by 12 runs.

As far as their rivals MI are concerned, the biggest rivals of IPL have faced each other 34 times with Rohit and the men leading the head-to-head with 20 wins. Their last six encounters saw both teams win thrice each. Another nail-biting encounter can be expected by the fans like it has been over the years.

Kieron Pollard claims that every player in the squad is available for selection but one potential change could be Kumar Kartikeya in place of Hrithik Shokeen. Left-arm wrist spinner Kartikeya seems to have impressed Brad Hogg, the Australian spinner of the same mold, who is now a consultant with MI. Kartikeya can also come into the XI as an Impact Player.
Probable XI: Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Jofra Archer, Arshad Khan
Impact players: Ramandeep Singh, Sandeep Warrier, Vishnu Vinod, Shams Mulani, Arshad Khan
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Having won the last game, CSK is unlikely to change the winning combination but one can never guess what is going on in MS Dhoni’s mind. They may consider changing the fast-bowling combination of Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar, mainly the last two named. Mitchell Santner will continue to play as Maheesh Theekshana is still not available.
Probable XI: Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(w/c), Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, RS Hangargekar
Impact players: Tushar Deshpande, Dwaine Pretorius, Shaik Rasheed, Ajinkya Rahane, Simarjeet Singh
