In the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be hosting the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, April 23. RR has been brilliant in the IPL this season, winning four out of their six games so far. While their bowlers have often done well on various occasions, it has been Rajasthan’s batting unit that has delivered more often than not. As for the RCB, they come into the game on the back of a big win against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
They have three wins in six games so far and will be keen to carry forward the momentum. The pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is expected to be a good one to bat on, with the average first-innings score reading 195. However, the last-day match in Bangalore saw Royal Challengers Bangalore defend 174 against the Delhi Capitals.

However, the hosts will start as slight favorites owing to their batting firepower. These two teams have met each other in a total of 28 clashes so far, where Royal Challengers Bangalore won 13 games while Rajasthan Royals won just 12 games with a couple of games that saw no result. With both teams eyeing an important win, another entertaining game is on the cards in Bangalore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
After the win over PBKS, where Faf du Plessis was substituted out for the impact player due to a niggle he carried into the game, the bowling coach informed him that he picked up some soreness just ahead of the game. There have been just two days of turnaround time from that last fixture, so there’s a chance RCB could go down the same XI and use Du Plessis as either the impact substitute (if they bowl first) or the player substituted out for the impact player (if they bat first).
Josh Hazlewood looked sharp in the nets on the eve of the game, but the bowling coach informed him that he still needed to tick off a couple of things for Cricket Australia to sign off on his availability to play.
Probable XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Suyash Prabhudessai, Harshal Patel, Wayne Parnell, Mohammed Siraj
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma pose a double threat to RCB’s opening duo. Virat Kohli has 78 runs in 59 balls against Sharma but has been dismissed 7 times by him. Trent Boult has a firm grip over both – he has dismissed Du Plessis thrice and conceded just 76 in 71 balls while Kohli has managed 60 off 51, but hasn’t fallen to the New Zealander.
Probable XI: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, R Ashwin, Jason Holder, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal
