Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Suyash Sharma missed out on the last game for KKR, without the skipper giving a valid reason for the same. It is unknown whether there is a concern of injury or just the balance of the team that dictated his exclusion. KKR could consider bowling with a spinner if Ajinkya Rahane enters the powerplay. Rahane has a strike rate of 222 in the Powerplay this season, the most by anyone KKR has also bowled the most overs of spin in the powerplay in IPL 2023.
Probable XI: Jason Roy, N Jagadeesan (wk), Venkatesh Iyer/Suyash Sharma, Nitish Rana (c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Ben Stokes is back to bowling in the nets, but hasn’t returned to the playing side as yet. It remains to be seen if he is match-fit as yet. Chennai’s openers have been amongst the best in the season, while KKR’s fast bowlers have the worst economy rate and strike-rate amongst all teams this season. While the threat of introducing spin early on looms, CSK’s in-form pair could have their targets in sight anyway.
