The 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK is currently placed at the 2nd position on the points table of this season of IPL whereas DC is at the bottom of the points table. CSK played 10 matches in IPL 2023 where they won five games while Mumbai Indians played nine games in this season where they managed just five victories.
It Will be the first game of the season between the two teams and with CSK playing in their own backyard, they il be looking to seal their spot in the playoffs. However, both teams look a lot more balanced ahead of this match, with Delhi Capitals winning their last couple of games on the trot.

These two teams have played have played 27 games against each other in the history of IPL so far where both Chennai Super Kings have won 17 matches game while the remaining games have been won by DC. The last time they played against each other in 2022, CSK registered a comfortable win by 97 runs.

Mike Hussey confirmed that Ben Stokes was available for selection having passed all the fitness tests. He also enjoyed a lengthy batting session on the eve of the game. However, at this stage, he is only likely to replace Moeen Ali, and against a Capitals team that has lost most wickets to spin this season (30 at ER 7.43) and with three key southpaws in the top-six, CSK is unlikely to make that swap for this game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been dismissed four times this season to wrist spin and hence, Kudeep Yadav will be an obvious match-up option if Gaikwad bats out of the PowerPlay. Then there’s also Shivam Dube, who has a strike rate of 165.33 against spin.
