The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction is taking place on December 16 2025, in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The one-day auction – which takes place once every year – will see some renowned players go under the hammer as well, including Cameron Green, Venkatesh Iyer, and Liam Livingstone, who are in the auction. They were expected to fetch a considerable sum at the auction.

Meanwhile, three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be there with the second-most purse of ₹43.40 crore. However, the 10 teams need to fill up 77 slots with a total purse of ₹237.55 crore and among them as well.

Chennai Super Kings get the Windies spinner Akeal Hosein for his base price of ₹2 Crore.
#2 Prashant Veer

A dramatic bidding war erupted for uncapped all-rounder Prashant Veer as Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians set the pace from his ₹30 lakh base price. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals soon joined in, with Sunrisers Hyderabad also circling. CSK held their nerve to clinch Veer for ₹14.2 crore.

The auction room erupted as the Mumbai Indians opened the bidding for Kartik Sharma, only for Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders to jump in quickly. Chennai Super Kings then entered the fray, triggering a fierce contest that saw the price soar from a modest ₹30 lakh base to beyond ₹10 crore. Just when CSK seemed set to seal the deal, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a late push. However, CSK finally held firm to secure Kartik Sharma for ₹14.2 crore.
