IPL 2019: Mumbai Releases 10 Players Ahead Of The Auctions

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Mumbai Indians (MI), who have lifted the coveted trophy on three occasions, have released 10 players ahead of IPL 2019. With the date for the players to be retained and released coming to an end on Thursday, the Mumbai team management took to Twitter to make the list official.

While players like Akila Dananjaya and Mustafizur Rahman were already released by the franchise, MI also released eight more players in Saurabh Tiwary, Pradeep Sangwan, Mohsin Khan, MD Nidheesh, Sharad Lumba, Tajinder Singh Dhillon, JP Duminy, Pat Cummins.

MI decided to continue with the talents it has identified and nurtured over the years like all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mayank Markande, Aditya Tare, Ishan Kisan, Rahul Chahar, Anukul Roy, and Suryakumar Yadav will continue to be with the three-time champions.

Ahead of IPL 2019 auctions, which is scheduled to commence in December, MI team management has decided to retain 18 players. Like most of the teams, MI retained their core group for the next edition. The MI skipper Rohit Sharma, who turned the tide for the team ever since he has been appointed as the captain, will continue to lead the franchise.

The list of players released by Mumbai includes 1 capped, 5 uncapped and 4 international players. Kieron Pollard, Ben Cutting, Evin Lewis, Mitchell McClenaghan, and Adam Milne are some of the overseas players retained by the franchise.
