The mega-auction of the Indian Premier League may take place on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru, according to Press Trust of India (PTI). It will be a massive auction as all players will be in the pool to buy except those whom franchise will retain.

“Since most of the capped players will be back in action, it will be a mega auction that will be held in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28. Since Bengaluru has been hosting all previous auctions, that were the choice of franchises,” a BCCI official quoted to PTI.

The governing council has already announced the retention policy ahead of IPL’s 11 season. According to it, a franchise can retain five players through retention and Right to Match (RTM) card. The team can either retain three players or buy three of them by RTMs.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings are making a comeback into the T20 league and Gujarat Lions along with Rising Pune Supergiant will make a way for them. Thus, these teams will have a right to recall their old players, who were playing for these two new franchises.

Also, IPL’s governing body has increased the auction purse from Rs 66 crore to Rs 80 crores.
