Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has mocked Pakistan’s performance after their humiliating defeat against India in the Asia Cup 2025. The much-hyped clash turned out to be a one-sided affair, with Suryakumar Yadav’s men cruising to a seven-wicket win and booking their spot in the Super 4s with authority.

Pakistan looked out of its depth from the very beginning. Hardik Pandya set the tone by removing opener Saim Ayub for a duck on the very first legal delivery of the match. Despite a brief recovery to 45/2, Pakistan collapsed dramatically, losing five wickets for just 38 runs.

They eventually crawled to 127/9 in their 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 40 from 44 balls, while Shaheen Afridi’s unbeaten 33 gave the innings some respectability.

India’s bowlers were clinical, with Kuldeep Yadav grabbing three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel chipped in with two each. Once the batters came out, the chase was never in doubt. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings with an unbeaten 47, supported by Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma, who both scored 31 runs. India sealed the match in just 15.5 overs, underlining the massive gulf in quality.

Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Irfan Pathan ridiculed Pakistan’s standards, suggesting that even Indian domestic teams could outclass them. “If you ask which of our domestic teams can beat Pakistan, I know for sure Mumbai can beat them. Punjab can beat them. And if you ask which IPL sides can do it—honestly, a lot of them,” he said with a smirk.

Former Mumbai all-rounder and current India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar echoed Pathan’s view, adding that Pakistan looked incapable of posing any challenge to the defending champions.

For India, the win not only confirmed Super 4 qualification but also reinforced their dominance over their arch-rivals in high-stakes matches.
