Former Indian all-rounder, Irfan Pathan has showered praises on the Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Siraj, saying that he has done everything to put his name in the mix for the ODI World Cup later this year in October. Siraj picked up three wickets as India registered a win over Sri Lanka by 4 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Speaking with Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said from the perspective of the World Cup, Siraj has done everything for him to be considered to make it into the squad for the upcoming marquee event. He explained, “From the 50-over World Cup’s perspective, Mohammed Siraj has done everything to say that his name should not be forgotten because he is performing regularly.”
Irfan Pathan said Siraj has the ability to move the ball both ways and has been regularly picking up wickets for India with the new ball.

Former Indian all-rounder asserted, “It is not about this series only, you are regularly seeing that Siraj is giving breakthroughs with the new ball in every series India are playing. He is moving the ball both ways, bowling fast and improving his level. He will try to convert his ODI form into T20 cricket as well.”
The 38-year-old said Mohammed Siraj is getting so much confidence from playing regularly, adding that there will be an improvement in his performance.
Irfan Pathan opined “He is getting so much confidence by playing regularly, you will see his performances improve in the shortest format. But the team management’s eyes will only be on the 50-over World Cup.”

After picking up wins in Guwahati and Kolkata, India is set to face Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram.
