Ishan Kishan produced another remarkable batting performance in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final, rewriting the tournament record books during East Zone’s clash against South Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After smashing 270 runs in the first innings, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter followed it up with an impressive 80 off 98 balls in the second innings on Thursday.
Ishan’s second-innings half-century helped him achieve another major milestone in the prestigious domestic tournament. Having already broken the record for the highest individual score by a wicketkeeper-batter in Duleep Trophy history, he has now registered the most runs by a batter in a single match across two innings.
The Jharkhand batter, who is leading East Zone in the 2026 Duleep Trophy, has accumulated 350 runs in the final. His extraordinary tally saw him surpass Raman Lamba’s long-standing record of 320 runs in a single Duleep Trophy match.

Lamba had achieved the previous record while representing North Zone against West Zone in the 1987 Duleep Trophy final in Bhilai. He scored 320 runs in the first innings, but North Zone did not require him to bat again in the second innings.
Ishan’s latest innings included nine fours and three sixes. He also shared a valuable 126-run partnership with Shikhar Mohan for the third wicket, helping East Zone strengthen their commanding position in the final.

Mohan, playing his first Duleep Trophy match, contributed 52 runs in the second innings after scoring 85 in the first innings on Sunday. Their partnership provided East Zone with another significant boost as they continued to dominate South Zone.
Ishan’s contribution has been central to East Zone’s imposing position in the final. With five wickets still in hand, the side has extended its overall lead to 584 runs with only one day remaining in the match.
