The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first, giving Kishan an opportunity to showcase his skills behind the stumps. He had a successful debut, taking two catches to dismiss Raymon Reifer and Joshua Da Silva. Known for his talkative nature, Kishan was seen instructing fielders, motivating the bowlers, and even attempting to engage in some sledging with the West Indies batters. In one instance, he was captured instructing Virat Kohli to change his fielding position.

In the match, West Indies aimed to put up a significant total after winning the toss but struggled against the Indian bowling attack. However, the entire batting lineup struggled, and West Indies could only manage a modest total of 150 runs in their first innings.
