In the high-octane clash between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in IPL 2024, Ishant Sharma, the seasoned Indian pacer, left spectators awestruck with his display of skill and athleticism. His pivotal moment came when he sent Punjab Kings’ skipper, Shikhar Dhawan, packing with a brilliant delivery that crashed into the stumps.

Following this crucial breakthrough, Sharma showcased his fielding prowess in a remarkable manner. The standout incident unfolded during the fourth over of Punjab’s innings, right after the dismissal of Dhawan. Despite conceding a couple of boundaries earlier in the over, Sharma remained undeterred.

Ishant Sharma executed a well-disguised slower ball, which Prabhsimran Singh nudged back towards him. While attempting to stop the ball, Sharma managed to get his fingertips on it, inadvertently dislodging the bails at the non-striker’s end.

The Capitals’ fielders swiftly appealed for a run-out, and upon review by the third umpire, it became evident that there was a significant deflection off Sharma’s finger before the ball hit the stumps. Consequently, Jonny Bairstow, who was backing up at the non-striker’s end, was deemed short of his crease, resulting in his dismissal.

Ishant Sharma’s dual impact, with both ball and fielding, proved instrumental in putting Punjab Kings under pressure. This moment of brilliance added to the momentum gained by Delhi Capitals, who earlier posted a commendable total of 174 runs on the board, courtesy of an explosive final-over onslaught by Abhishek Porel.
