England team faces another injury scare in the ahead of the Ashes as Jake Ball collapsed in his delivery stride while bowling. Ball has suffered a sprain in his right ankle and will be further assessed later on Thursday and on Friday.

Son after the incident, Ball received treatment from England physio Craig de Weymann and left the field but, on a good note, he was able to walk from the field for further treatment. It is not yet clear how serious the injury is.

It is the last thing that England team was expecting before the first Test in Brisbane on November 23. Without their best player in Ben Stokes, they have received several other setbacks already in Australia.

They are also without Mark Wood, which is unfit for selection, while Toby Roland-Jones, who was ruled out before the trip and Steven Finn who was forced to leave here on Wednesday after damaging his knee.

Spinner Moeen Ali is also struggling with his side injury and he even didn’t even bowled yet on the tour. Ball’s performances have been pretty impressive so far and he was even looking a good bet to make the first Test team at the Gabba- but now England face an apprehensive wait to see whether he will join a worryingly prolix injury list.
