England cricket is going through a transition phase where they have made some massive changes in the last few months following a horrible 4-0 loss against Australia in the Ashes. Post the Ashes loss, England dropped James Anderson and Stuart Broad from the test squad in order to bring in young bowlers in the Test squad in order to prepare well for the future.
It was a massive omission that led to massive uproar and criticism against the then England management, including the then test captain, Joe Root. Following yet another poor series against West Indies, Root decided to resign as the captain, and Ben Stokes was appointed.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad hadn’t lost hope of making a comeback in the test team despite age, not on their side. They both have opted to play in the County Championship in order to stay in the rhythm and give themselves the best chance of getting selected for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
In this week’s fixture, Lancashire was up against Yorkshire which meant the battle between Anderson vs Root.

On day 4 of the game, Anderson managed to go one-up against his former captain and in style. The Lancashire bowler bowled a perfect delivery that moved a bit into the Yorkshire batter. Root got beaten and the ball removed the off and middle stumps as Anderson jumped to his classic celebration.

As much as Anderson enjoyed that wicket, it seemed that even Broad equally had a good time watching Root’s stumps flying. ‘Oh my reverse swing’, Broad reacted as Root went back to the pavilion after scoring just four runs.
