The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is being played between the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 15th May at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Towards the end of the first innings, the fans witnessed an incident when R Ashwin was involved in a strange run-out with Jimmy Neesham.
Surprisingly, Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bat first as it has been their strength in the season so far. While LSG made just one change as Ravi Bishnoi replaced Karan Sharma, RR made a couple of changes as Jimmy Neesham and Obed McCoy came into the XI to replace Rassie Van Der Duusen and Kuldeep Sen.

Both teams are looking to qualify for the playoffs. RR suffered an early blow when the LSG pacer, Avesh Khan cleaned up the in-form opener, Jos Buttler in the 3rd over itself. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal once again rose up to the occasion and played a fiery knock of 41 from 29 balls. Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal also played important knocks to make sure the Royals kept the run rate going.
But, what caught everyone’s eye was the strange runout that happened when R Ashwin and Jimmy Neesham were batting together. The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 17th over when Ashwin drove Ravi Bishnoi’s ball towards the covers.

Jimmy Neesham who was at the non-striker’s end started running as R Ashwin kept looking at the ball. The throw came at the non-striker’s end and Ashwin started walking as he thought he was out. However, the on-field umpire decided to review it and replays showed that Neesham had not crossed Ashwin and it was Jimmy Neesham who had to go back to the pavilion.
