Despite the fact that the Kiwi fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan didn’t get selected in the Indian Premier League draft, but bow he has got the opportunity to give another shot to make his mark on the competition. McClenaghan has been selected by the Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement from Australian left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff who was ruled out from the edition due to a back injury.
McClenaghan had been a part of the Mumbai Indians squad for the past three edition of the cash-rich league before going unsold in the auction ahead of this year’s competition. In 2017 he was a key contributor to their campaign, taking 19 wickets in 14 matches.

The press released said, “IPL Technical Committee approves the replacement of Mumbai Indians squad. The IPL Technical Committee has approved a replacement for Jason Behrendorff – left-arm fast bowler from Australia – in the Mumbai Indians squad.”

It further added, “In accordance with the Player Regulations, the Mumbai Indians were allowed to choose a replacement from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP). The Mumbai Indians subsequently picked New Zealand’s Mitchell McClenaghan at his base price of ₹1 Cr.”

The Kiwi pacer has not been a part of the national squad since March 2016 and will be hoping to deliver in the IPL and make a comeback to the international arena once again.

He has played a total of 28 T20Is for the Blackcaps and has taken 30 wickets at an average of 25.26. He has also played 48 ODIs where he has picked up 82 wickets at an average of 28.20.
Mumbai Indians begin their title defense hosting two-time winners Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in the opening game on April 7.
