The Indian pacer was on the money during the first ODI against England as he didn’t give a chance to the English batting order.  Jason Roy was Bumrah’s first wicket of the day and he got the crucial wicket of Joe Root in the same over. The Indian pacer also sent the dangerous Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone back to the pavilion and ended the day with an impressive six-wicket haul in 7.2 overs while conceding just 19 runs.

England eventually got bundled out for a meager score of 110 runs in 25.2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah received a lot of praise from the fans and the cricketing world, with legendary cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar being the latest. The legendary batter took to Twitter and praised India’s pace attack for their top performance in the first game and hailed Bumrah as ‘phenomenal.’

Sachin Tendulkar tweeted: “The Oval pitch has great bounce but the Indian bowlers bowled the right lengths & that made all the difference. A great bowling performance by India’s pace attack, especially Bumrah who was just phenomenal.”

The Indian openers didn’t take much time to chase down the score as the visiting team took the lead in the series. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who played a phenomenal knock of 117 in the third and final T20I against England on Sunday, entered the top-10 of the ICC rankings for T20I batters. He jumped 44 positions to become No.5 in the rankings. Yadav is currently the highest-ranked Indian on the list with Ishan Kishan is at 12th.
