Jasprit Bumrah once again showcased his world-class bowling skills during the third T20I between India and Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday. The Indian pacer produced a trademark yorker to dismiss Darwish Rasooli as Afghanistan began their chase of India’s imposing 222-run target.
India had already sealed the three-match series after winning the opening two games by seven wickets at the same venue. Under captain Shreyas Iyer, the Indian team continued its dominant run, with the Afghanistan series also giving Iyer back-to-back T20I series victories after India’s earlier success against Zimbabwe.
Rasooli had no answer to Bumrah’s pinpoint delivery during the pacer’s first spell. Bowling at around 140 kmph, Bumrah fired a perfectly directed yorker into the batter’s toes. The ball struck Rasooli before ricocheting onto the stumps, leaving the Afghanistan batter with virtually no chance to respond.

The dismissal came on the very first ball Rasooli faced, resulting in a golden duck. It was also Afghanistan’s third wicket inside the powerplay, leaving the visitors under immediate pressure while attempting to chase a target of more than 200 runs.

For Bumrah, the wicket was another example of his ability to deliver under pressure. His accuracy and control have remained key features of his bowling throughout the series.

The 32-year-old pacer returned to the Indian side after missing the Sri Lanka series and the final ODI against England due to injury. Although he has not produced a huge wicket tally in the ongoing series, Bumrah has continued to make an impact through his economical spells.
His economy rate has remained below seven, underlining the control he has maintained with the ball. With his pace, variations and trademark yorkers all working effectively, Bumrah once again provided India with an early breakthrough during Afghanistan’s difficult run chase.
