However, the main challenge for Team India will be the tour of New Zealand that will get kicked-off from 24th January 2020 where they will need the services of Bumrah.

As per reports of Hindustan Times, Bumrah had undergone an assessment post-Diwali and is hopeful that he will be back in action at the start of the new year. The report also added that Bumrah will be a crucial cog for India on their tour to New Zealand and the team management is happy with the way his body is recovering from the injury.

One of the sources of the Hindustan Times said, “He underwent assessment and his recovery is on track. I can expect him to be back in Indian colors in January and the Australia series could be the one. When you are playing in New Zealand, the bowling becomes all the more important. As you have seen in the past as well, it is more about taking 20 wickets there than scoring big hundreds. So, the team management was very clear that they are happy to wait and have him back at his best in time for the New Zealand tour.”

Earlier, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli also said that the workload management of players is important for them in order to make them free from injury and it is the main reason behind Bumrah’s absence from white-ball cricket post-World Cup.

Ahead of the Windies series, Kohli had said, “That’s probably the most important thing for us right now, managing the workload of players. That’s why he (Bumrah) didn’t play any white-ball cricket after the World Cup because we wanted him to be fresh for the Tests.”
