The right-handed batsman stuck to the basics and channelized the aggression in the right direction. More often than not, he has single-handedly carried the team on his shoulders so far in the ongoing Test series.

Root scored a century in the second innings of the first Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, but the match ended in a draw. Both teams are fighting a good fight in the second Test match at the iconic Lord’s. In the first innings, the Indian team managed to reach a total of 364 runs.  in the first innings. Rohit Sharma scored a scintillating 83 including 11 fours and a six. Virat Kohli scored 42 while Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 40. James Anderson managed to bag another five-wicket haul. England Test captain Joe Root approached the innings with caution and aggression. He went on to score yet another unbeaten century.

Joe Root grew from strength to strength to surpass the tally of 150 runs. magnificent 150. He remained unbeaten throughout the innings before his partner James Anderson got out. Root remained not out on 180* including 18 fours and England was bowled out for 391.

India responded with 298/8 (declared) in the second innings. Ajinkya Rahane top-scored with 61 whereas Mohammed Shami scored an unbeaten 56* as he made a brilliant unbeaten partnership of 89 runs with Jasprit Bumrah. India set up a target of 272 for the hosts.

England Test captain Joe Root once again batted really well. While he was looking to get set in the crease after his 33, his innings were cut short by Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliant delivery. Here is the video of the dismissal:
