The veteran Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami has decided to hang her boots from the shortest format of the game. She represented India in 68 T20Is in which she scalped as many as 56 wickets which included a five-wicket haul against Australia in 2012. Goswami, a veteran of 10 Tests and 169 ODIs is currently the leading wicket-taker in the women’s ODI format and also the first woman cricketer to take 200 ODI wickets.
Goswami’s memorable Test performance came against England at Taunton in 2006, where she took a 10-wicket haul in the game (five wickets in each innings) to finish with match figures of 10 for 78 to help India to a famous series victory.

Known as the Chakdaha Express, Goswami’s best T20I performance came against Australia in 2012 where her 5/11 gave India a consolation win in a three-match series. Her other notable performances include 3/20 against England in Taunton in 2011, 3/7 against West Indies in 2012, 3/11 against Bangladesh in 2014 and 3/30 against Australia in March this year.
In 2007, Jhulan also won the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s Cricketer of the Year award and she became the first woman cricketer to win it. In 2010, she received the Arjuna Award and two years later, became only the second woman cricketer to be received the Padma Shri award, after Diana Edulji.
